Optical Transport Services

Sonet/TDM Services

MBC offers SONET/TDM transport services (can also support SDH) on our regional and long haul network. MBC supports the following services:

• DS1/DS3
• OC-3/OC-12/OC-48/OC-192/OC-768
• E1/E3
• STM-1, STM-4, STM-16, STM-64, STM-256

For members requiring aggregation services, MBC offers interconnects of OC-3, OC-12, and OC-48 to groom sub-rate transport circuits on the STS level.

METRO Ethernet Services

For Metro Ethernet Services, MBC utilizes Ethernet over SONET within the Nortel 6500 platform, providing a robust and dedicated platform for Ethernet service delivery. MBC utilizes Nortel 6110 and 6130 access devices to deliver dedicated Layer 1 Ethernet transport services.

• 6Mbps, 10Mbps, 20Mbps, 50Mbps
• 100Mbps to 1Gbps in 50Mbps increments (STS level)
• 10Gbps Ethernet (LAN PHY or WAN PHY)

MBC does not offer Layer 2 Ethernet transport services or any shared bandwidth topology. This is to retain MBC’s ability to offer dedicated optical transport services with high levels of QOS and performance monitoring.

Wavelength Services

The MBC network provides ultra low latency wavelength routes and a GMPLS aware network for high performance applications such as data centers, web hosting facilities, and carriers requiring low latency routes for their customers. For wavelength services, MBC uses the Infinera DTN system to provide robust connectivity from regional to long haul and long haul to long haul locations.
